3andB unlocking potential

Education news

About this section, and about our crawler

What we publish, how it is made, and what our bot does on your site.

What this is

3andB publishes a short daily post about education news, written for a different audience each weekday — Teacher News, Admin News, Homeschool News, Parent News, Positive Impact. Each post summarises reporting published elsewhere, links every claim to the outlet that reported it, and lists those sources at the bottom of the page.

We are not a news outlet and we do not republish articles. A post is a summary and a reading of several stories, with the reporting credited and linked inline. If you would rather we did not summarise yours, the contact address is below and we will remove it.

How a post is made

Drafting is automated; publishing is not. Each night the system reads the feeds of a handful of publishers, selects a few stories, drafts a post from their full text, then checks that draft against the sources — every cited URL is fetched by code and confirmed to return 200 with the headline we attributed to it. Claims the checker cannot support are sent back to be corrected, and the corrected post is checked again.

Nothing reaches this site without a person reading it first. A post with an unresolved factual problem, or with no verifiable source link, cannot be published at all — that rule is enforced in the code, not by habit.

Our crawler

Requests come from the User-Agent 3andbEdBot/1.0 (+https://3andb.com/ed/about).

  • It reads robots.txt first and obeys it. If you disallow us, we stop — no exceptions, no separate list.
  • It waits at least 1.0 second between requests to the same domain, and longer if your Crawl-delay asks for more.
  • It fetches your feed or section page once per run, and the full text only of the few articles actually used. Nothing is crawled in bulk.
  • It caches for six hours, so a re-run does not re-fetch you.
  • It never logs in, never fills a form, and never fetches anything behind a paywall.

Removing your site

Two ways, both of which we honour. Add a Disallow for our User-Agent in your robots.txt and the next run will skip you. Or email info@3andb.com and we will remove you from the source list and take down any post that cites you — say which you would like and it is done the same day.

Corrections

If a post gets something wrong about your reporting, write to info@3andb.com. Corrections are made to the post itself rather than appended, and a post that cannot be corrected is taken down.
